Summer time, green tea drinking time… another tea from Carstensens Tehandel (www.carstensens-tehandel.dk) is this “Tai Ping Hou Kui”, a wonderful chinese green tea, one of “Chinas 10 famous teas” (all green). What caught my interest was that the very long but fine leaves had impressions from the paper, that was part of the production process. So when I saw it on the shops homepage, and I knew I was going there, I had to purchase it. And – it does not disappoint. Clear, fresh, aromatic.

Directly from the bag –

Do you see the paper impressions?

The wet leaves floating in the bowl –

And the big, wet leaves –

I wrote a poem, too…

Here you are you green leaves
soaking in danish water
being asked if you would be so kind
to open your secrets to us
share your life-giving aroma with us
present us with this taste
to quench our thirst
to be balanced with
to start the morning with
so the brain can think at all
and the soul can catch up –

Ren, frisk, aromatisk.

Her ligger nu I grønne blade
og bløder op i dansk vand
bliver venligst spurgt om I vil
åbne Jeres hemmeligheder for os
dele Jeres livgivende duft med os
skænke os en opløftende væske
at indtage slurk for slurk
at komme i balance derved
at starte morgenen
så hjernen kan tænke
og sjælen overhovedet er med –
